You can view all of my work for Prime Time on RTE’s version of the iPlayer, imaginatively titled Player. I’ll post via twitter when there is a new package available to see. I might put together a compilation – maybe the best of – in a few months when I get some meaty stories under my belt. Here’s the link… And the Prime Time site is here. . Read More →

Here’s a promo for a short documentary I made a few months ago. It’s for the Filmboard’s Reality Bits short documentary scheme which we should be hearing about in the next few days. The proposed documentary examines the relationship between artist and inspiration. It features artist Niamh O’Malley and composer George Higgs. The piece is produced by Arlene McGann and shot by Paddy Jordan. I’ll post details of how we get on in terms of decision from the Filmboard. Fingers crossed. Read More →

So, with more tapes than I can comfortably carry, the edit begins. I still have some more stuff to shoot and I hope to be doing that in the next month or two but for now it’s time to avoid the daylight in the bowels of the edit suite and find the story in this adventure of a documentary. I’m really excited about seeing it come together over the coming weeks. I’ll try and keep posting updates here as we go and maybe even some teaser sequences to whet your appetite. Read More →

Coffee Kids, the not-for-profit that helps promote education and fair coffee prices for farming communities in Central and South America is 20 years old this year. I travelled to Nicaragua in January with Carolyn Fairman (Executive Director) and her knowledge of the coffee industry and the people it affects and their plight really hit home for me. I’d urge anyone who has a love of coffee to donate whatever they can to this amazing organisation to support their work helping those who earn as little as 4¢ per pound... [Read the full story]

After flying out of Dublin at the crack of unreasonable we arrived in Newark just in time for our next flight to Houston. The clever Continental agent at check in didn’t give Bonnie and myself boarding passes for the Newark-Houston leg and we spent a stressful ten minutes trying to reason with airport security about how we got to be in departures without a boarding pass.At Houston we again only had about ten minutes before boarding the flight to Managua and by this time we were so sick of Continental’s disgusting... Heading for the airport once more tomorrow to jet off into the wild, caffeinated yonder. I’m on my way to Nicaragua to film another coffee harvest and hopefully get to spend some time with Coffee Kids, the charity that supports the children of coffee farmers in Central and South America. I’ll try and post from the road but failing that, there’ll be a full posting about my trip here when I get back in a week’s time. Read More →
